Earpiphony

video
Today the sky cleared after a few days of thick gray clouds and a brilliant warming yellow shined down upon my beard. I became excited at the change in weather and eagerly looked up to see blue sky and quickly realized that it was not the sun shining down on me! In fact, I couldn't even see the sky! The warmth and yellow light came from a giant golden ear of corn in a western Minnesota town named Olivia. This unshucked majesty blocked out the sky and for a few moments it was all I could see, hear, and think about. I think I can safely say that I have always been bigger than an ear of corn, ever since my adolescent years anyway, but Olivia, like Mark Rosen, has had a transforming effect on me. Today was certainly an adventure. Giant Corn will always have a special place in my memories and in my dreams.
